Terms of Service
Last updated: Peerly is in early access — Terms version 2026.1
Peerly is currently in early access. By using the platform, you agree that features, pricing, and policies may change as we build toward a full public launch. This page describes what actually exists in the app today — it will be replaced with our complete Terms of Service, reviewed for compliance with Dutch and EU law, before Peerly opens to the general public.
1. The service
Peerly connects Clients — people who need a property viewed but can't attend themselves — with local Viewing Partners who attend a scheduled viewing on the Client's behalf, walk through the property (in person and over a live video call), follow the Client's checklist and instructions, and share what they find.
A Viewing Partner is not automatically a professional property inspector, surveyor, valuer, estate agent, or other qualified property professional, and Peerly does not represent them as one unless their profile says otherwise. What a Client should expect is an honest, attentive second pair of eyes and ears at the property — observations, photos, video, and answers to the checklist — not a professional survey, a legal opinion on the property, or a guarantee about its condition.
Peerly is a marketplace that connects the two sides and provides the tools (requests, matching, messaging, live video, photo/video capture) to run a viewing. Peerly is not a party to what a Client and Viewing Partner agree between themselves about the viewing itself.
2. Live video calls
Once a Viewing Partner is confirmed for a viewing, the viewing itself happens partly over a live video call between the Client and the Viewing Partner, run directly between their two devices (peer-to-peer). Starting or joining this call uses your device's camera and microphone, which is why Peerly asks for a separate, explicit consent before the call can begin — see “Consent” below.
Both participants are expected to use the call respectfully and lawfully: no harassment, no recording or distributing the other participant's image or voice outside of what this policy describes, and no use of the call for anything unrelated to the viewing. Call quality and availability depend on both participants' devices, cameras, microphones, and network conditions, and Peerly cannot guarantee a call will always connect or stay stable.
3. Recording
Peerly supports recording a live viewing call, but a call is never recorded by default. Recording only happens when both the Client and the Viewing Partner on that call have each given a separate, explicit “yes” to a recording-consent prompt, in addition to the call consent itself. If either person declines, has not yet answered, or withdraws consent, no recording starts — and if a recording is already running when someone withdraws, it stops.
When a recording is active, both participants see a clear, persistent on-screen indicator for as long as it runs — there is no way to record a call silently or without both sides seeing that it's happening.
A completed recording is stored as part of that viewing's record, in the same private storage as the viewing's other photos and videos (see “Photos and videos” below), accessible only to the Client and the Viewing Partner who were on that call. It is retained for as long as the underlying viewing record is kept and can be deleted on request — email Peerlylocal@gmail.com.
4. Photos and videos
A Viewing Partner may take photos and record short videos of the property during a viewing — either uploaded afterward or captured live during the call — so the Client has a real record of what was seen, beyond what the live call itself covers. This is a core part of what a Viewing Partner provides: visual evidence of the property's condition to go with their written report.
These files are stored privately and associated with that specific viewing. They are accessible only to the Client who requested the viewing and the Viewing Partner who attended it (and Peerly staff, only as needed to operate the service or resolve a dispute) — never shown publicly or to any other user. They are retained for as long as the viewing record is kept and can be deleted on request via the email above.
A Viewing Partner capturing photos or video must respect the property, its occupants, and any applicable rules the landlord or agent has set (for example, restrictions a listing agent asks Peerly or the Viewing Partner to follow) — Peerly does not review captured content before it's shared with the Client, so this responsibility sits with the person capturing it.
5. Consent
Before a video call can start, both the Client and the Viewing Partner must explicitly confirm they understand the call will use their camera and microphone, and agree to proceed — this is a dedicated, plain-language screen, not text buried in a longer agreement, and the call cannot start for either person until they've answered it. Recording, described above, requires its own separate consent from both sides on top of this.
Every consent decision — call or recording, yes or no — is recorded with a timestamp and the Terms version in effect when it was given, so there's always a clear record of what was agreed to and when. If these Terms change in a way that affects what you're consenting to, you'll be asked again under the new version.
6. Your responsibilities
- Clients must give accurate information about the property, the viewing, and what they want checked — a Viewing Partner can only be as useful as the instructions they're given.
- Viewing Partners must actually attend and perform a viewing they've accepted, honestly and to a reasonable standard, and report what they genuinely observed.
- Neither side may misuse the platform, the live call, recordings, or captured photos/videos — including sharing another person's image, voice, or personal information outside of what this policy describes.
- Both sides must respect each other's privacy and comply with applicable law, including around recording, image rights, and property access.
- Nobody may make misleading claims about a property's condition, whether in a viewing report, a chat message, or anywhere else on the platform.
7. Cancellation and reliability
A confirmed viewing is a real commitment on both sides, so cancelling one isn't treated as cost-free by default. Cancelling well before the scheduled time carries no consequence; cancelling close to it, or after a Viewing Partner has already been selected, is logged and can affect that account's standing — the closer to the viewing (or the more often it happens), the more it weighs. Viewing Partner cancellations are recorded in a private reliability history tied to their account, used to keep the marketplace trustworthy for Clients choosing who to book. Genuine emergencies and other legitimate exceptions are handled case by case, not penalized automatically — contact support if one applies to you. Exact cancellation windows and their consequences are shown at the point of cancelling, in the app.
8. Disputes and evidence review
If something goes wrong with a specific viewing, either the Client or the Viewing Partner can raise a report on it from that viewing's page — as a complaint or a dispute — and message back and forth with Peerly staff about it from the same place.
To investigate a report, Peerly staff may review the evidence tied to that one viewing: the chat messages between the two of you, the photos and videos captured for it (including a call recording, if one exists — recall a call is only ever recorded with both sides' explicit consent), the consent records for that call and recording, basic call metadata (whether and roughly how long a call ran), either side's cancellation and reliability history, and any related reports. This access is limited to authorized Peerly staff, is logged for accountability, and is used only to look into the report that was actually raised — never as general browsing of a viewing's private data, and never made visible to any other user.
Raising a report doesn't guarantee a particular outcome, refund, or compensation — Peerly reviews what actually happened and responds based on that, case by case.
9. Privacy and data
Peerly collects and stores what's needed to run the service: account details (name, email, phone), viewing details (address, schedule, checklist, budget), the photos/videos and any call recording tied to a viewing, your consent records, chat messages between the Client and Viewing Partner on a viewing, and — for Viewing Partner applicants — onboarding information (KVK number, ID verification, service areas). A Viewing Partner's real name, phone, email, home address, and KVK number are never shown to a Client — only the public username they chose.
Data tied to a viewing (messages, media, consent records) is kept for as long as that viewing record exists and is only accessible to the two people who were part of it, plus Peerly staff where needed to run the service or resolve a dispute. You can request deletion of your account or data at any time by emailing the address above; some records may be retained briefly where needed for security, dispute resolution, or a legal obligation. See our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle your data.
